We are converging on a single platform for what we call computational design. This means having a single set of models which drive detailed physical, electromagnetic and fluid dynamic simulation. Importantly, though, these same models also generate CNC machining tool paths.
In fact, the CNC tooling can be part of that same simulation exercise, making sure that our models reflect the actual machined part.
After examining many different options, we have settled on Autodesk's Fusion 360 as our CAD/CAM platform.
Chris Monachan, who heads up our 3D modelling, says "Fusion 360 has a rapid pace of development and we are particularly grateful for the responsiveness of Autodesk's development team in helping us with additional functionality we need."
We are always pushing the boundaries of what we can model: from the subtle impact of the lacquer on the cabinet and the rubber of the driver surround, through to the electromagnetics of the voicecoil and elaborate interplay of the crossover components.
